Approx 1 year ago, my Wife and I decided that we wanted to put a four-room addition on to our home, as well as a new two car garage. We knew that the project would be challenging however, due to the age of our home. (approx. 125 years old). We looked for a contractor who would be both enthusiastic about the job and who appeared as if he or she would be able to handle the numerous challenges that our home inherently presented. When we met with Vance Parella from N.H.I.S. we knew that we would ask him to do the work for us.
From the very start of the project to the end, Vance was always good at communicating with us. Vance listened to our concerns, drew up the plans for us, obtained the proper permits, and the construction was started. Vance was good at working with our bank along the way, which ensured that there were no snags as far as the delivery of payments were concerned. As the crew got into the construction phase of the project Vance informed us concerning everything that was going on, which was critical as we were not living in the area at the time. It is hard to follow construction progress when you are not in the area; Vance was great at communicating exactly what was being done and what needed to be thought of.
Due to the age of our home, there were certain problems that came up and had to be overcome. Vance took the time to explain to us each problem as it arose, what the bottom line really was, and what needed to be done to correct the problem so that the construction could get back on track. Vance was always honest and straight forward with us; at no time did I ever feel as if he was trying to add extra projects just for the sake of adding extra revenue to the project. Vance and his crew had the experience of figuring out exactly what needed to be done for each issue that presented itself during the construction. Some of the parts of the older home needed to be repaired and these repairs were all completed professionally.
As far as the workmanship of the addition and garage is concerned, it is excellent. The crew that Vance has working with him are each great at what they do. The work crews were always professional and worked extremely hard to finish this project on time. We are extremely pleased as to the quality of our addition as well as our new garage. We had also hired Vance to do some work in the older parts of our home, and the end results were well beyond what our expectations were. Vance checks each item personally, ensuring that everything gets done according to his expectations.
To recap, I will say that Vance was very good at communicating with us through the entire process. Vance was great at overcoming the many obstacles that arose from working in such an old home, and the workmanship is excellent. The people that Vance works with are true craftsman and are extremely trustworthy. We have been back living in our home for the past 2 months or so, and we are very comfortable in the new addition. After we moved in, Vance sought to make sure that any detail that was not completed according to our wishes was done so.
At some point during the construction, I had asked Vance to see if he could move up the completion date one complete month. Vance and his crew worked very hard to accommodate us, and the home was ready to move into one complete month prior to the original completion date.
I would recommend anyone who needs work done to use Vance and crew. I plan on using N.H.I.S. again next year for some additional projects! Vance is professional, reliable, very thorough, and the work exceeds expectations!

I am very happy with the work that was done on my home! Vance and his team completed a major combination of exterior and interior improvements, including new siding, soffit, fascia, gutters and gutter covers, sub-wall and trim work, foundation repairs, wood and masonry repairs, and electrical repairs/upgrades. They also addressed mold and water damage mitigation, followed by sheetrock, taping, painting, and carpet installation on the interior. Addition/New Construction
Vance and his team put a small addition onto my house and remodeled some existing space into a half bath. He always kept me updated every step of the way and even came back after the job was done to help troubleshoot some unforeseen issues, which he did not have to do!

Fence Replacement
Vance and his team removed and replaced wooden fencing between our house and our neighbors. My wife and I were not happy with the results, we were delighted. Very professional and respectful of the properties. They kept a clean site and left no refuse behind. Construction was completed expeditiously and correctly. Vance is also a great communicator on construction updates. He also answers any questions very promptly. Pricing was reasonable for the area.

Siding Replacement
Our home looks awesome!! National Home Improvement Services did an excellent job siding my home. Vance is experienced, informative and professional. We were able to understand the full scope of the services. There was a high level of consideration for our home and our needs throughout the entire process. This company installed new gutters, installed gutter covers and cleaned all the gutters. The service was superior. They also did renovations on window trim which look like original installation. The service is always clean with no homeowner cleanup required. Very satisfying.

Excellent gutter cleaning service! I recently hired Vance Irwin of National Home Improvement Services to clean my gutters. He was prompt, responsive and communicative. He texted several photos to me of the work in progress, and once completed, which I very much appreciated. Also did a great job of cleaning up when he was done. During the job, he discovered that I needed a new chimney cap and he sent me a photo. Upon my request, he quickly sent an estimate to install a new chimney cap and completed the work within a few days, even though it was Thanksgiving week. I would recommend him and his company.
